Job description

Special Hazards Fire Suppression Designer 

In this role, you will design and create the finished representation for special hazard suppression systems using drawing and drafting skills and tools. Drawings produced will be used as a guide by every other link in the chain of construction, both on-site and in the office. The designer will have close coordination with the project manager and foreman throughout the respective projects. Procuring equipment based on Construction project estimation sheet. Assigning Purchase Orders to Vendors. Update Construction Log and Client information. Submit plans to the Fire Authority, Pull Permits,  go over Redline drawings after the installation of the project.
The goal is to keep the Construction department running in an efficient and profitable manner, Provide great customer service, Help other departments with the transfer of paperwork. 
Special Hazards Fire Suppression Designer Tasks:

·        Design various special hazard fire suppression systems while following required codes
·        Identify value engineering opportunities where appropriate
·        Conduct field surveys of existing buildings and systems
·        Use design software for 2-D & 3-D drawings
·        Prepare some hand drafted drawings
·        Perform Clean Agent fire system flow calculations
·        Perform Fire Detection & Control layouts
·        Work with key customers and our design/build team to prepare conceptual drawings.
·        Pull permits and submit drawings to AHJs
·        Produce shop drawings and as-built drawings
·        Assist with system and equipment selection
·        Assemble system specifications and O&M Manuals
·        Coordinate with field personnel to ensure information flow
Qualifications:

·        Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD or other specialized layout software.
·        Good planning and problem-solving skills
·        Good math skills
·        Able to understand big picture issues
·        Good communication, written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical skills
·        Project management experience a plus
·        Professional and detail-oriented
·        Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
·        Reliable with ability to complete tasks within deadlines and communicate results back to the team
·        Possess a progressive, positive attitude
·        Ability to work as part of a team to achieve the Company’s overall goals.

• Valid driver's license
·   Associates degree or better in drafting and design.
·   5 years of experience in computer based drafting.
·   5 years of experience in NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Design or NFPA 2001 Clean Agent Design.
• Drug screening required
 
 
Preferred
• NICET Certifications Fire Alarm, Special Hazards+++
• Blue Beam, BIM, Revel, AutoCAD certified or highly experienced with 3D rendering software.
• Manufacturer design certified. (Ansul, Kidde, Janus, Notifier, Marioff)
• 5 Years Experience Designing fire alarm/suppression systems (preferably special hazards)
• Availability to start within two weeks after offer made/accepted.
