We are seeking an enthusiastic piping designer with experience supporting power generation and heavy Industrial projects to be based in Newport Michigan at DTE Fermi Power Plant. The successful applicant can look forward to projects including working on new build simple and combined cycle powerplants and developing plant modifications on projects throughout the United States and Canada. 

What You'll Do Here:

  • Under minimal supervision, design medium to complex mechanical / piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools. 
  • The successful candidate fully understands the process of design development, preparing drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures. 
  • The successful candidate shall be knowledgeable in the design of plant mechanical and piping systems, able to develop piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings (GA), equipment plan, piping orthographic and isometric drawings. 
  • The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of engineer's design development process. 
  • The mechanical / piping designer fully understands the purpose and use of vendor documents and reviews mechanical supplier documents for accuracy. 
  • Help coordinate mechanical / piping design activities work with other discipline groups. 

What You Bring To The Team:

  • Associate degree in piping design (technical field) or equivalent demonstrated experience. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant designexperience beyond associate degree in powerplant piping and support design. 
  • Proficiency with AutoDesk Plant3D, P&ID and AutoCAD. 
  • Proficient with Bentley MicroStation
