Founded in 1960 by Rudy Gerbus and his brother as Gerbus Bros Construction, Trans Ash began with a strong foundation in mass earthmoving and heavy civil construction. Today, our work extends well beyond ash handling. Trans Ash performs heavy civil construction services such as large-scale earthwork, site development, clearing and grubbing, erosion controls, haul roads, storm drainage, process water ponds, spillways, concrete support, slope and shoreline stabilization, landfill construction and closure, dredging, ash pond remediation, site restoration, and plant support services.

Job Summary
The Project Engineer will work on civil land construction projects with our valued customers in the utility industry supporting the Site Construction Manager and Site Project Manager.
Essential Functions
  • Assisting Managers with preparation of estimates for new work projects.
  • Preparing various daily, weekly, and monthly project reports.
  • Preparing and tracking QA/QC documents, Quantity take off from project plans
  • Ability and willingness to learn surveying & site layout with GPS equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Assist with updating and coordinating project schedules, including integration of subcontractor work activities and material delivery timelines.
  • Support procurement activities by coordinating with vendors for material quotes, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for excavation dewatering operations, working closely with subcontractors and the owner to plan, schedule, and execute dewatering activities in support of construction progress.
  • Interacting with our customers, design engineers, craft labor, Trans Ash home office, safety, and HR departments.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion
  • Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education
    • BS or associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or similar degree.

    Training Requirements
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • AutoCAD experience a plus
    • Surveying experience a plus

    Knowledge Requirements
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.

    Experience
    • Two years+ of experience in construction or related field preferred

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., work in all types of weather, walk, and stand for extended periods of time
    • Must be physically able to perform the work outside in hot and/ or cold weather conditions.
    • Must be able to work in a construction environment.
    • Must be able to walk slopes and uneven terrain.
    • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
    • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test, MVR, and background check.
    • May require significant time in the field, including walking up or down slopes.

    • Must have a valid driver's license.
    • Be at least 18 years of age.
