Job description

Job Title:Mathematics - Professional CFS Faculty (may be filled with Visiting Faculty)

Position Start Date: August 1, 2027

Applications are invited for a CFS-track professional (teaching) faculty position at any level (assistant, associate, or full professor) in the Department of Mathematics at Brigham Young University, beginning in August 2027. Starting rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The department has a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Candidates will be evaluated based on evidence of excellent teaching and the potential to make significant contributions to service. The application deadline is July 22, 2026.

Required Degree:

PhD in mathematics or a related field. The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Duties/Expectations:

Teaching mathematics courses at the undergraduate level. The teaching load will generally be 8 or 9 courses per academic year, including the Fall and Winter semesters and one of the Spring or Summer terms. In addition to teaching, duties include service within the department, and supporting university, college, and department goals and missions.

Documents Required at the Time of Application: Please attach your updated curriculum vitae, cover letter and Mission Alignment Statement to the faculty application. Also include three letters of recommendation that address the applicant's teaching and service. The letter need not address the applicant's research. Also, please include a Teaching Portfolio consisting of a teaching statement, a record of previous teaching, a record of previous service, and previous student ratings. The applicant may also include other materials in the teaching portfolio that demonstrate the applicant will meet the job's duties and expectations. The teaching portfolio should be uploaded as a single PDF.
