We are currently hiring for the 2026-2027 school year, starting August 2026.


About Mathnasium:
At Mathnasium, we are passionate about helping students from kindergarten through middle school unlock their potential, build confidence, and excel in math. We provide a fun, supportive learning environment where students develop strong mathematical thinking skills and achieve academic success through the Mathnasium Method™.


Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and dependable Lead Instructor to join our Mathnasium team. As a Lead Instructor, you will play a key role in providing exceptional math instruction while serving as an instructional leader within our learning center. In addition to delivering individualized instruction using the Mathnasium Method™, you will coach and mentor instructors, model effective teaching practices, and help maintain a positive, collaborative learning environment.
Lead Instructors are expected to foster both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency while adapting instruction to meet each student's individual learning needs. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education, enjoy mentoring others, and are looking to develop leadership skills while making a meaningful impact on students' lives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized math instruction using the Mathnasium Method™, focusing on conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and student growth
  • Support students from kindergarten through middle school with varying skill levels and learning needs
  • Guide students through personalized learning plans while tracking progress, celebrating achievements, and encouraging confidence and independence
  • Take ownership of student progress by monitoring performance, identifying areas for improvement, and supporting students in reaching their learning goals
  • Model effective teaching strategies while coaching, mentoring, and providing constructive feedback to instructors
  • Assist with instructor onboarding, training, and maintaining consistent instructional standards
  • Support student behavior management and foster a positive, engaging learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with students and families through professional communication and exceptional customer service
  • Communicate student progress and instructional recommendations with parents and guardians
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors and Center Leadership to ensure a consistent, high-quality student experience
  • Partner with Center Leadership to support daily center operations, scheduling needs, and overall center success
  • Assist with student assessments, instructional planning, and other center responsibilities as needed
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming learning environment


Qualifications:


Required Qualifications

  • Within one year of earning your high school diploma
  • Strong arithmetic and Algebra I skills (candidates must demonstrate math proficiency through a Math Literacy Test)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for education and helping students succeed in math
  • Ability to work with students of varying ages and abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and collaborate with fellow instructors
  • Dependable, professional, and reliable


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching or tutoring math
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, supervising, or training others
  • Ability to teach through Geometry (Algebra II is a plus)
  • Pursuing a degree in education, mathematics, science, engineering, or a related field
  • Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin is preferred; Spanish is also a plus, but not required


Schedule:
Qualified applicants must be available to work five days per week (Monday–Thursday, Friday or Saturday), approximately 20 hours per week, primarily during afternoon and evening hours.


Fall Center Hours

Monday–Friday: 3:00 PM–7:30 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM–1:30 PM


Please note: Team members are expected to arrive before instructional hours begin to assist with center opening and preparation, and remain after the last instructional session to support student dismissal, center closing, and other end-of-day responsibilities. Scheduled shifts may begin before and end after the posted instructional hours.


This is an in-person, part-time position located in Monterey Park, CA
