Middle School Instructional Coach - Math & Science

Location: DuBois Integrity Academy
Reports To: Middle School Principal

Position Summary

DuBois Integrity Academy is seeking a highly motivated, student-centered, and results-driven Middle School Instructional Coach - Math & Science to support teachers in strengthening instructional practices and improving student achievement in mathematics and science. The Instructional Coach will work collaboratively with teachers and administrators to build instructional capacity through job-embedded coaching, professional learning, data analysis, curriculum support, and instructional leadership.

The ideal candidate is an experienced educator with a strong background in middle school mathematics and science instruction, data-driven decision-making, curriculum implementation, and teacher development. This individual must possess excellent communication skills, a passion for coaching adults, and a commitment to ensuring high levels of academic success for all students.


Key Responsibilities

1. Instructional Coaching & Teacher Development

  • Execute coaching cycles that include goal setting, classroom observations, modeling, co-teaching, feedback sessions, and progress monitoring.
  • Provide individualized coaching support to Math and Science teachers based on instructional needs and student achievement data.
  • Facilitate pre-observation and post-observation conferences that promote teacher reflection and growth.
  • Model effective instructional practices, classroom management strategies, and student engagement techniques.
  • Support teachers in implementing research-based instructional strategies that improve student learning outcomes.
  • Develop action plans with teachers to address areas of instructional growth.

2. Professional Learning & Capacity Building

  • Design and facilitate high-quality professional development focused on Mathematics and Science instruction.
  • Lead content-specific professional learning communities (PLCs) and collaborative planning sessions.
  • Support teachers in understanding and implementing Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE).
  • Share best practices, instructional resources, and innovative teaching strategies aligned with STEM education.
  • Assist teachers in integrating technology and inquiry-based learning into classroom instruction.

3. Curriculum Planning & Instructional Support

  • Collaborate with teachers to develop rigorous lesson plans, assessments, and instructional units aligned with state standards.
  • Support vertical alignment of curriculum and instructional practices across grade levels.
  • Ensure instruction incorporates differentiation, intervention strategies, and enrichment opportunities for diverse learners.
  • Assist teachers in creating engaging learning experiences that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry.

4. Data Analysis & Student Achievement

  • Lead regular data meetings to analyze student performance data, benchmark assessments, and state assessment results.
  • Assist teachers in using data to identify learning gaps, monitor student growth, and adjust instructional practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers to establish measurable student achievement goals and monitor progress toward those goals.
  • Support the development and implementation of intervention plans for struggling students.
  • Monitor instructional effectiveness and provide recommendations to improve academic outcomes.

5. Leadership & School Improvement

  • Serve as a member of the school's instructional leadership team.
  • Collaborate with administrators to support school-wide instructional initiatives and academic goals.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional excellence.
  • Support the onboarding and mentoring of new teachers.
  • Assist with school improvement planning and implementation efforts related to Mathematics and Science achievement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
  • Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Mathematics, Science, or a related content area.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement in Mathematics and/or Science.
  • Experience analyzing student data and implementing data-driven instructional practices.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment design, and instructional best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as an Instructional Coach, Lead Teacher, Department Chair, or Teacher Leader.
  • Experience facilitating professional development and adult learning.
  • Endorsements or certifications related to instructional coaching, STEM education, or educational leadership.
