Summary
 
The Scientist I – Microbiology / Associate Microbiology Scientist is responsible for conducting microbiological and environmental testing of pharmaceutical raw materials, finished products, and stability samples using validated internal and compendial methods. The role involves performing laboratory testing, documenting and communicating analytical results, maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with GMP/GLP standards, and supporting quality and regulatory requirements within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
 
Responsibilities
  • Perform microbiological and environmental testing of pharmaceutical raw materials, finished products, and stability samples using validated internal and compendial methods.
  • Implement validated microbiological test methods for pharmaceutical raw materials and finished products.
  • Recognize, investigate, and report out-of-specification (OOS), unexpected, or non-routine analytical results, and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation as required.
  • Accurately document testing procedures, analytical data, and results in accordance with laboratory procedures and documentation systems.
  • Clearly communicate analytical findings and testing outcomes to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support laboratory operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces, equipment, and testing materials.
  • Perform all laboratory activities in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline is required, preferably Biology or a related Life Sciences field.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Experience in a GMP microbiology laboratory is preferred.
  • Microbiological and environmental testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical laboratory testing methods.
  • Basic knowledge of GMP, GLP, and laboratory documentation practices.
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation and troubleshooting is preferred.
  • Understanding of OOS investigations and laboratory quality practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
