Job description

Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate - Enterprise Integration & Messaging to support missioncritical enterprise integration platforms that enable standardized, secure, and reliable data flow across customer and account domains. This role supports enterprise message broker technologies within the broader technology organization, helping connect legacy mainframe systems with modern distributed applications through asynchronous, messagedriven architectures.

In this role, you will assist with the development, enhancement, and support of messagebased integration solutions built on IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and IBM MQ, running on Linux. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will work with message transformation, validation, enrichment, routing logic, and enterprise integration patterns to ensure reliable nearrealtime data distribution across platforms.

This position is ideal for earlycareer engineers who want handson experience with enterprise middleware, messaging systems, and highly reliable distributed platforms, while gaining exposure to both modern application ecosystems and legacy infrastructure in a regulated, highavailability environment.

You will also participate in the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program. The CODE program is a two-year engineering development experience designed for individuals who are early in their technical careers. The program is intended for candidates with approximately 6 months to 2 years of hands-on engineering experience.

The CODE Program offers meaningful, real-world work combined with structured professional development, mentorship, and exposure to a broad range of technologies across the enterprise. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for promotion and continued employment, subject to business needs and performance expectations.

CODE provides:

  • Immersive onboarding and foundational technical training

  • A supportive cohort experience of peers starting their tech careers

  • Dedicated mentors and program managers who guide your development

  • Professional development, career coaching, and workshops

Wells Fargo only considers candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who do not require work visa sponsorship now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and support of IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) message flows.

  • Implement and support message transformation, validation, enrichment, and routing logic across enterprise customer and account domains.

  • Support IBM MQ-based asynchronous, messagedriven integration patterns to ensure reliable message delivery.

  • Work with multiple data formats, including XML, JSON, COBOL copybookbased messages, and AVRO.

  • Assist with protocol mediation across MQ, HTTP/S, SMTP, and TCP/IP channels.

  • Help enable interoperability between legacy mainframe systems and modern distributed applications without tight coupling.

  • Participate in monitoring and basic troubleshooting of message broker runtimes deployed on Linux servers, including execution groups and message flows.

  • Follow enterprise standards for logging, error handling, exception management, and coding practices.

  • Assist with unit testing, integration testing, deployment activities, and operational support tasks.

  • Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, QA, and operations teams to deliver reliable integration solutions.

  • Participate in incident analysis and rootcause investigations under guidance.

Required Qualifications:

6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Academic or handson exposure to IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), IBM MQ, or similar integration or messaging technologies.

  • Experience working with structured data formats such as XML and JSON.

  • Foundational understanding of enterprise integration concepts and messagedriven architectures.

  • Basic understanding of asynchronous processing, guaranteed delivery, and transactional integrity.

  • Working knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Java, Python, or shell scripting).

  • Familiarity with Linux or Unix commandline environments (Linux exposure a plus).

  • Exposure to version control systems such as Git.

  • Understanding of basic networking concepts, including HTTP/S and TCP/IP.

  • Ability to follow established enterprise standards and procedures, with attention to detail and operational stability.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Word, managing email and calendars in Outlook, and building presentations in PowerPoint.

  • This position is required to work from the designated posted office location and must be able to meet all expectations of the current hybrid work schedule, including regular inoffice attendance as defined by the team and program requirements.
