GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

We are currently seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Structural Detailer II to join our team in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
As a Structural Detailer II, you will be responsible for creating intricate, accurate structural drawings for bridges and other critical highway structures.   • Using computer-aided drafting software creates accurate and complete structural details by referencing engineering computations, utilizing engineering theory, reviewing project-specific data, and following proper detailing procedures and office standards
  • Obtains records and information for use in structural details. Verifies and makes corrections and additions to structural details
  • Calculates estimated quantities of materials required for contract bidding, construction, and project costs
  • Communicate with designers to ensure structural drawings comply with engineering computations
  • Recommends minor adjustments in design to achieve simplicity and constructability
  • Utilizes trigonometry, algebra, and geometry to calculate reinforcing steel lengths and laps, girder piece lengths, cross-frame lengths, gusset plate dimensions, etc.
  • Participates in the review of drafting standards
  • Participates in technician meetings to review detailing standards

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, practices, standards, and office policies that relate to structural detailing
  • Understanding of the practical applications of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry
  • Skilled in the use of computer-aided design and drafting software (Microstation and AutoCAD), word processing (Word or WordPerfect), and spreadsheet (Excel or Quattro Pro) computer applications
  • Ability to produce clean, legible, and organized work
  • Ability to give attention to details and work under pressure
  • Ability to work well with others

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Physical Science)
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Transportation) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Design Assistant
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Transportation) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Design Assistant

    • One year of service to WYDOT must be completed, failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive, and funds will be recouped from final pay.

    • If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period, they would be required to pay the bonus back.
