Position Summary

As a member of the EVA data engineering team at Optum Technology, you will transform EVA usage data into meaningful analyses and actionable insights. Leveraging Google Cloud Data Fusion and modern data platform capabilities, you will contribute to building and maintaining reliable data pipelines that process usage metrics to support data-driven decision-making across the enterprise. In this remote role, you will collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to design efficient data integration workflows, automate data processing, and leverage modern tools to continuously improve our data assets.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Transform EVA usage data into structured datasets and meaningful analytical outputs using Google Cloud Data Fusion
  • Assist in designing, building, and maintaining robust data integration workflows and ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate data engineering tasks, and drive continuous process improvement
  • Assist in designing, developing, and deploying AI-powered data solutions to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on responsible AI usage
  • Evaluate emerging technology trends to inform solution design, pipeline optimization, and strategic innovation
  • Write clean, efficient SQL queries and data transformation scripts to support analytics and operational reporting
  • Monitor daily data processing workflows, troubleshoot pipeline failures, and perform data profiling to ensure data quality and accuracy
  • Document data pipeline workflows, data mapping specifications, and system architectures for team reference

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED 
  • 1+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, or software development
  • 1+ years of experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries
  • 1+ years of experience with programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Scala, or Java) for data processing
  • Foundational knowledge of ETL/ELT pipeline concepts, data transformation techniques, and data warehousing principles
  • Willingness and ability to learn and build data pipelines using Google Cloud Data Fusion (prior experience with Google Cloud Data Fusion is not required)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, profile, and troubleshoot data quality or pipeline performance issues

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Prior experience with or exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Google Cloud Data Fusion or BigQuery
  • Experience or familiarity with utilizing AI-assisted development tools to optimize daily workflows and data pipeline creation
  • Exposure to cloud data platform architectures and cloud-native data integration tools
  • Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) or big data processing frameworks
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles, CI/CD deployment pipelines, and version control tools (e.g., Git)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,200 to $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
