We're seeking someone to join our team as a Java/Scala Application Developer to build and support critical Wealth Management Finance technology solutions that enable scalable data processing, application development, and business innovation across a global technology organization.

In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is an Associate level position within Software Engineering, the job family responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining software solutions and technology platforms that support business objectives.

What you'll do in the role

  • Design, develop, test, deploy and support applications for the Wealth Management Finance Technology organization.
  • Build scalable and resilient software solutions using Java EE and related technologies.
  • Leverage Scala for rapid application design and development where appropriate.
  • Develop and support micro-service and web service architectures.
  • Collaborate with global teams across Montreal, New York and Asia to deliver technology solutions and provide operational support.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle using Agile methodologies.
  • Analyze complex business and data requirements and translate them into effective technical designs and solutions.
  • Work with databases, data warehouses and data lakes to support business reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Contribute to application modernization, automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize AI-powered development tools to improve software quality, productivity and delivery outcomes.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Experience using GenAI-powered IDEs, such as VS Code and Copilot.
  • Experience with object-oriented software development.
  • Experience with modern SDLC methodologies, including Agile processes.
  • Experience with Java EE technologies, including Spring, EJB and Gradle.
  • Exposure to Scala.
  • Solid RDBMS and SQL knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows development environments.
  • Experience with databases and exposure to data warehouses and/or data lakes, such as Teradata and Snowflake.
  • Understanding of data transformation concepts (ETL) and related tools such as Informatica.
  • Familiarity with LLM and Generative AI development techniques.
  • Ability to understand complex business and data problems and translate them into practical technology solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality software.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong ownership, time management and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages is preferred.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Experience with JIRA and Agile ceremonies and practices is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse and data lake reporting concepts and design is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes is preferred.
