Assistant IT Support Lead
Location: Fort Bragg, NC
Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $125,000 - $130,000 annually
Position Overview
MKS2 is seeking a highly qualified Assistant IT Support Lead to support cybersecurity operations, Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance, vulnerability management, and information assurance programs for mission-critical Department of Defense systems. The Assistant IT Support Lead serves as a key member of the cybersecurity team responsible for maintaining system accreditation, administering RMF packages, supporting security assessments, and ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
This position provides technical leadership in cybersecurity operations and works closely with the IT Support Lead, Information System Owners, Security Managers, and government stakeholders to maintain secure and compliant information systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support cybersecurity operations and RMF compliance efforts across enterprise IT environments.
  • Develop, maintain, and update RMF artifacts, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), security assessment documentation, and authorization packages.
  • Administer and manage DoD RMF packages within the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and security compliance reviews utilizing ACAS/Nessus and related cybersecurity tools.
  • Analyze security findings and develop remediation recommendations to reduce cyber risk.
  • Support continuous monitoring activities and security control assessments.
  • Assist in security architecture reviews and implementation of cybersecurity controls.
  • Support cybersecurity incident response activities, investigations, and documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate with system administrators, network engineers, and program stakeholders to ensure timely vulnerability remediation.
  • Monitor compliance with DoD cybersecurity regulations, RMF requirements, and applicable security directives.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, compliance documentation, and status updates for government leadership.
  • Support audits, inspections, accreditation efforts, and cybersecurity readiness reviews.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Associate degree plus five (5) years of relevant cybersecurity or IT experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement.
Certifications
  • Current DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) 722 qualification.
  • Intermediate or advanced cybersecurity certification such as:
    • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
    • CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
    • Equivalent DoD-approved certification
  • Minimum of 20 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours annually.
  • Must meet all applicable DoD 8140.03 certification requirements at time of contract award.
Experience
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience managing DoD RMF authorization packages within eMASS.
  • Experience conducting ACAS/Nessus vulnerability scanning and analysis.
  • Experience developing and maintaining System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, security control documentation, and RMF artifacts.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity compliance and accreditation efforts within DoD environments.
  • Familiarity with NIST RMF, security controls, continuous monitoring, and vulnerability management processes.
Clearance
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or Special Operations Forces IT environments.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity engineering, system hardening, and secure system design principles.
  • Experience supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) and security accreditation activities.
  • Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and vulnerability remediation processes.
  • Experience participating in cybersecurity audits, inspections, and security assessments.
  • Knowledge of cloud security, virtualization technologies, and enterprise cybersecurity tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of DoD RMF processes, NIST cybersecurity standards, and federal compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with eMASS administration and authorization package management.
