PART-TIME RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
New York University Tandon School of Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Part Time Research Associate to work with Professor Erdem Varol and Professor Shy Shoham in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn, NY, is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Tandon fosters student and faculty innovation and entrepreneurship that make a difference in the world. The CSE department conducts ongoing research programs in a wide range of areas related to computer science theory, cyber security, analysis, visualization data, computer games, and internet and web research.
Responsibiities:
The Research Associate will be working on developing next-generation signal processing, machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques for analyzing large scale neural data. Specific duties include but not limited to:
  • Working on research projects at the intersection of health and machine learning methods, including computer vision and natural language processing.
  • Developing and applying advanced analytical techniques, conducting experiments, analyzing data, contributing to research publications, and preparing presentations.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior students in related projects.
  • Other duties as needed for the project as needed.

Salary:
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $26.37 for 20 hours per week depending on the candidate's experience and qualification.
Expected start date and period of employment
Expected start date is asap and the position is available until 8/31/2027, subject to available funding and performance.
Qualifications
Candidates should have at least an MS in Computer Science or a related field, OR be currently enrolled in the pursuit of doctoral training for at least one (1) year.
Previous experience in machine learning, health-related research, and collaboration within a diverse research group is essential for success in this position.
Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
