Duties: Develop design of business function, applications, information and infrastructure architectures, coding, testing, debugging and maintaining components of information applications. Lead the identification and definition of applications architectures, components and interfaces, design of data model, data/information flows and security design. Provide practical, expert knowledge of technical design alternatives and the implications of each approach, participating and consistently leading phases of the software development cycle. Identify business value and cost for business and IT partners. Deliver software engineering designs and programs for new and existing products (enhancements and new product development) that meet business needs. Keep current on best practices in technology and marketplace trends including business competitors and technology vendors. Identify data needs including access, security, quality and maintenance requirements. Influence and clearly relate technical alternatives to business objectives using effective communications with customers and stakeholders. Recommend design alternatives considering benefits and limitations to users based on in-depth understanding of business needs; code very complex or high-risk components. Provide technical direction and coaching to software developers and associate software developers in application development activities. Adhere to all organizational and IT policies and process for software development and project management. Telecommuting permitted within commuting distance.
Requirements: Requires a Master's Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a directly related field, and three (3) years of complex (multi-tiered) software development experience. Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a directly related field and five (5) years of complex (multi-tiered) software development experience.
Experience must include: Multi-language programming expertise including Java enterprise applications, C++, Cobol, Visual Basic, and additional programming languages with development tools and application development environments. Advanced Object-Oriented design patterns and enterprise application integration with modern application architectures across multiple platforms.
Complex database management and optimization across multiple database systems and file access protocols. Enterprise system analysis and technical architecture design using structure analysis and technical design techniques for large-scale business applications. Cross-platform development and system integration including Web, Unix, and Windows based applications across heterogeneous computing environments.
