Job description

Overview

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following location(s): Arizona, North Carolina and Texas.

This position is a highly skilled and experienced senior level VMware VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation) engineer to join the cloud infrastructure operations team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of VMware VCF and have a strong technical expertise in designing, implementing, and managing VMware based infrastructure solutions.


Responsibilities
  • Consultation - Provides consultative direction and technical advice relating to the Bank's operating systems, software, and hardware infrastructure. Supports all areas of Technology and Operations. Leads strategic designs, initiatives, and contributes to the analysis of new and existing Bank technologies.
  • Project Management - Leads assigned technical projects ensuring accurate, timely, and quality delivery of project objectives. Guides the development and execution of project tasks.
  • Technical Expertise - Maintains a strong knowledge base to effectively manage and maintain operations efficiency and guide others. Communicates effective and clear technical information across platforms.
  • Support, maintain and implement VMware VCF solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of the Bank.
  • Lead the operations and maintenance of VMware VCF across infrastructure with emphasis on scalability, performance, capacity and reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate VMware VCF with existing systems and applications.
  • Provide senior level troubleshooting relate to VMware based solutions, including performance optimization and system tuning.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment, configuration, and management tasks.
  • Continued education in the latest VMware technologies and best practices
  • Participate in capacity planning and performance analysis activities to ensure optimal resource utilization and performance.
  • Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Document deployment procedures, upgrade procedures, Standard Operating Practices and operationalize processes to facilitate knowledge transfer to other operational team members and Tier 2.
  • Manage and resolve incidents and problems related to the VCF platform

  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing and managing VMware-based infrastructure solutions
  • Extensive hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, including its components such as VMware vSphere, VMware NSX, VMware vSAN, VMware SDDC Manager and VMware Aria
  • Strong understanding of networking, storage and virtualization concepts
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as PowerShell, Python and/or Ansible
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) frameworks like Terraform is a plus
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues
  • Strong verbal communication across audiences (such as technical coworkers, end users, and management)
  • VMware certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work a on call rotation
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift frequently
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to attain new technical skills and share knowledge with teammates
  • Ability to maintain calm and patient attitude under pressure
