Job description

Summary

A Signworks Production Supervisor reports to the Director of Signworks Manufacturing. This is an advanced skill level position that requires an individual who demonstrates proficiency across several technical and computer disciplines, proven competence in fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, packaging, and shipping methods. Excellent communication, time management, and organization skills, and the motivation to take responsibility for the performance of Signworks. Supervisors are required to maintain availability over a wide range of hours to a wide range of shop floor concerns in Signworks.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize all shop resources to accomplish day-to-day work.
  • Ensure production is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with all specifications.
  • Exhibit a dependable and positive role model for direct reports.
  • Support areas of growth for team members by motivating and rewarding success.
  • Assist in selection and onboarding of new employees.
  • Approve or correct time and attendance for all direct reports.
  • Provide coaching and corrective action for employees not meeting expectations.
  • Lead team projects with Signworks and support staff to continuously improve Signworks.
  • Represent Signworks on manufacturing capabilities and efficient production methods, including opportunities for improvement on product design.
  • Represent Signworks on process effects resulting from product changes.
  • Work with other members of management and the HR department to coordinate the appropriate provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Assist Manufacturing Technicians as needed to troubleshoot and return equipment to production.
  • Regularly attend training on subjects important to Watchfire and stay informed of industry practices and standards.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, & crouch in and around tightly configured equipment. Occasionally lift and carry 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 75 pounds.
  • Complete safety reviews of work spaces, processes, and hazardous materials and lead support staff to implement the best safety practices.
  • Audit completion preventive maintenance and evidence that work was completed correctly on a regular basis.
  • Provide leadership and stability to direct reports during periods of change and implementation of new duties by planning training steps in advance and preparing the team.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Proficient in reading/writing/typing in English. Comprehend written, visual, and verbal instructions. Excellent reasoning skills related to explaining cause and effect.
  • Proven experience with presenting information in small group situations.
  • Advanced computer skills (i.e. Infor, Salesforce, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.) are required.
  • Completion of 30hr in OSHA 1910 or ability to complete within 3 months of hire date.
  • Prior experience in team leadership and development is preferred.
  • Prior experience in maintenance, programming, purchasing, and/or safety is preferred.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and ability to rent vehicles.

Education and Licensing

  • Minimum 5 years of similar work experience with an Associates of Science in a technology or related field; or 2 years of similar work experience with a Bachelor of Science in a technology or related field; or minimum 7 years of similar work experience in production, maintenance, manufacturing engineering, or quality.
