AboutOzark Campus:
Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus is the regionalprovider for technical and career education, offering more than 25 programswith a variety of industry specific options, as well as certificates ofproficiency, technical certificates, associate degrees and general educationcoursework. The Ozark Campus is located on I-40 between Fort Smith andRussellville, Arkansas, in the city of Ozark. The campus, which is more than 26acres and includes a half-mile exercise path and disc golf course, is located alongArkansas Highway 23 North in Ozark, Arkansas. The city of Ozark, with apopulation of approximately 3,500, is located on the banks of the ArkansasRiver and surrounded to the north by the Ozark National Forest and to the southby the Ouachita National Forest. Located to the west of Ozark is the city ofFort Smith, a commercial and industrial center for western Arkansas.Russellville, home to Arkansas Tech University's main campus and an area ofvigorous industrial development, is located to the southeast of Ozark onInterstate 40.
Position Summary:
This position includes health sciences instruction of career& technical education students enrolled through Arkansas Tech Career Centerand housed at ATCC Russellville Campus. The position is primarily face-to-faceinstruction but may include some online instruction as needed. This positionreports directly to the Director of Arkansas Tech Career Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Heath Science instructor provides quality classroom andlab instruction; oversees clinical assignments as needed; provides studentadvisement; provides supervision and management of students, works collegiallywith ATCC and ATU Ozark personnel; attends meetings and fulfills all duties asassigned in a professional and timely manner; attends professional development;participates in curriculum development, program planning, assessment, studentevaluation; assists in the recruitment and retention of students; communicateswith representatives in the field, and performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Strong interpersonal skills withdiverse populations
* Strong verbal and writtencommunication skills
* Ability to work effectivelyindependently and on a team
* Enjoy working with and relating tohigh school students
* Skilled in classroom management
* Willingness to learn and apply bestpractices in instruction and assessment
Minimum Qualifications:
* LicensedPractical Nurse at the Associate Degree level
* Hold acurrent, unencumbered license to practice (PN) in Arkansas
* Have atleast 2 years' experience in the health care field.
* Commitment to obtain CPR InstructorCertification within first semester of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
* CPRInstructor Certification
* Have acurrent RN certification at the bachelor's level
* Hold acurrent, unencumbered license to practice nursing (RN) in Arkansas
* Have aleast 3 years of experience working as a nurse
Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:
This position is located in classrooms and offices atArkansas Tech Career Center located at 2201 South Knoxville, Russellville,Arkansas.
This position is assigned a desk and computer in a locationthat may be in a different building other than classroom locations, so theposition requires the ability to change locations and/or walk moderatedistances during a normal day. Required activities include: teaching andlecturing, sitting/standing for extended periods, use of a keyboard and mouse,use of standard office equipment. Must be able to sit and/or stand for longperiods, and lift 25 pounds occasionally.
