Job description

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Design Technician II to join our civil/site team in our Atlanta, GA office. This role plays a key part in supporting civil/site projects by transforming design concepts into accurate, wellcoordinated CADD drawings. The position works closely with engineers and project teams to develop plan sets, conceptual layouts, exhibits, and digital terrain models using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Responsibilities include analyzing sketches and technical input, preparing detailed drawings, coordinating information across sheets, and supporting stormwater, grading, and earthwork calculations. As experience grows, this role offers the opportunity to take on more complex assignments, contribute to full construction plans, and expand technical expertise while working on a wide range of projects.


Responsibilities
  • Prepare and detail plans by analyzing sketches, notes and other input material to determine the best approach for the completion of drawings.
  • Work from sketches to produce computer-generated graphs, charts, overlays and isometric drawings including digital terrain models and surfaces.
  • Determine and calculate stormwater drainage areas and steep slope areas.
  • Conform to the company’s standard CADD procedures for layering, etc., and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout.
  • Create and setup plan sets.
  • Prepare conceptual layouts with parameters provided.
  • Work with numerous project teams to help in project completion.
  • Coordinate details and dimensions between drawing sheets.
  • Preparation of fit lists.
  • Prepare project exhibits.
  • Address assignments of increased difficulty as proficiency is increased.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.
  • May be required to calculate quantity takeoffs and prepare cost estimates.
  • May be required to perform design computations, earthwork calculations and prepare complete construction plans.
  • Prepare CAD files for authorized media release to external parties / agencies.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/Equivalent; Associates Degree or a Certificate from a technical school, preferably in AutoCAD.
  • 2-4 + years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other related software.
  • Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge, and acumen (i.e., familiarity with Microsoft Office, etc.).
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
