Job description

Suncast Corporation is the leading US-based designer, manufacturer, and distributor of high-quality resin products for the home and industrial markets. A privately held company headquartered in Western Chicago, Illinois, Suncast prides itself on 35 years of innovation and sustainability across a wide range of product categories with materials proudly sourced in the USA. Everything we do is supported by the strength and ingenuity of American workers and we are committed to helping families across the country make the most of their unique spaces. We utilize state-of-the-art machinery and innovative manufacturing techniques to consistently engineer products of the highest possible quality.
Position Summary:
The CAD Drafter provides 2D drafting and documentation support to the design engineering team, taking on lower-complexity drawing and administrative work so design engineers can stay focused on higher-value technical work.
Responsibilities:
  • Create and update accurate 2D production drawings based on 3D models and engineering design information provided by engineers.
  • Incorporate redline markups and engineering-directed revisions into existing drawings, ensuring all changes are accurately documented and maintained.
  • Maintain compliance with established drafting standards, drawing formats, title block requirements, and file management procedures within the Product Data Management (PDM) system.
  • Ensure released drawings are properly organized, version-controlled, and accessible to support manufacturing and engineering activities.
  • Provide support to design engineers by performing routine, lower-complexity tasks, including part number creation, bill of materials (BOM) entry and maintenance, and CAD file organization.
  • Assist with the preparation, processing, and maintenance of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and related engineering documentation.
  • Prepare and organize drawing packages, specifications, and supporting documentation for prototype builds, sample evaluations, and product development activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering team members to ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with project requirements and schedules.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date drawing, CAD, and engineering documentation libraries to ensure efficient retrieval and proper document control.
  • Update project trackers, checklists, and status reports to provide accurate visibility of drafting activities and project progress.
  • Perform preliminary quality checks of drawings and documentation to verify completeness, accuracy, formatting, and adherence to drafting standards prior to engineering review.
  • Support continuous improvement of drafting and documentation processes by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, organization, and data accuracy.
  • Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping practices.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or a related technical field required.
  • Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software, with SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to follow direction and effectively manage structured, well-defined tasks.
  • Proven organizational skills with reliable follow-through and timely task completion.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, moderate noise levels, and required safety equipment.

The Anticipated Pay Range for This Position: $60K-75K annually
