Job description

FUNCTIONAL ROLE

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC/CAD Engineer to support both engineering and production operations. This role works closely with project managers, oversees CNC operations, and contributes directly to shop production using water jet, laser, and other CNC equipment.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in CAD drafting, CNC programming, and fabrication processes, with the ability to manage workflow from design through production.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with project managers to develop drawings, layouts, and production plans for custom fabrication projects.
  • Create and modify CAD drawings (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) for fabrication and architectural signage.
  • Program and operate CNC machines, including water jet, laser, plasma, and router systems.
  • Manage and assist with shop production, including material setup, cutting, and fabrication processes.
  • Perform layout work and troubleshooting to resolve design or production issues.
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with sales, project managers, and shop staff to maintain workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all safety procedures.
  • Assist with customer interactions and site visits when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (technical training or certifications preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in CNC programming, CAD drafting, or metal fabrication
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MasterCAM) for design and CNC programming
  • Experience operating CNC equipment (water jet, laser, plasma, router)
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and shop production workflow
  • Ability to supervise production and coordinate with project managers
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with solid mechanical aptitude
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, design-build environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing
