Associate Computational Biologist information
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the associate computational biologist position, and why are they important?
To thrive as an Associate Computational Biologist, you need a strong foundation in biology, statistics, and programming, often demonstrated by a relevant degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as Python, R, data visualization software, and commonly used genomics databases is essential, and experience with high-performance computing environments is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex findings effectively with interdisciplinary teams are key soft skills for this role. These competencies enable accurate analytical work, innovative research approaches, and effective collaboration, ensuring success in a fast-paced, research-driven environment.
What is an associate computational biologist?
An Associate Computational Biologist analyzes biological data using computational techniques to support research in genomics, proteomics, and related fields. They work with large datasets, develop algorithms, and write code to interpret biological information. This role often involves collaborating with biologists, bioinformaticians, and software engineers to derive insights from complex biological systems. Strong skills in programming, statistics, and data analysis are essential.
What are the typical daily responsibilities of an associate computational biologist?
An Associate Computational Biologist typically spends their days analyzing large-scale biological data sets, developing or utilizing computational models, and collaborating closely with lab scientists and senior bioinformaticians. Tasks may include writing scripts to automate data processing, visualizing complex results, and interpreting biological significance in partnership with experimental teams. You may also be responsible for troubleshooting data anomalies, staying current with evolving bioinformatics tools, and participating in team meetings to discuss ongoing research projects. This dynamic work environment requires both independent focus and regular communication with interdisciplinary colleagues.

Job description
Our laboratory develops next-generation antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), molecular imaging agents, and targeted therapeutics to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment. We combine protein engineering, chemical biology, molecular imaging, computational biology, and spatial transcriptomics to understand therapeutic response and accelerate translation from preclinical discovery to clinical application.
The successful candidate will have experimental and analytical skills, excellent scientific writing and communication abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. Candidates should be highly motivated, organized, and eager to integrate experimental and computational approaches to address translational research questions while mentoring junior trainees and contributing to a positive laboratory environment. Candidates should have demonstrated research experience in one or more of the following areas: antibody engineering, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), cancer biology, molecular imaging, or chemical biology. Experience with computational analysis of spatial transcriptomics or other high-dimensional datasets and strong data management skills are highly desirable.
We are seeking an independent and collaborative scientist interested in developing innovative antibody-based therapeutics while integrating computational approaches to study tumor biology and mechanisms of response and resistance.Job Description
