Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Underwriting
  • Coordinate/assist in underwriting process for both new and existing commercial transactions
  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency in structuring complex credit transactions and assessing risk across diverse industries and borrower profiles
  • Anticipates potential credit issues and proactively recommends solutions that align with the bank's risk appetite and strategic goals
  • Ensure that loan structure and pricing reflect both asset quality and return on equity expectations of bank
  • Serves as a mentor to junior team members, providing guidance on credit structuring and decision-making
  • Facilitate and participate in discussions with commercial lending staff and decision makers to advance credit approval process
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of credit processes and policy interpretation

Financial Analysis
  • Collects and researches data and synthesizes financial data into meaningful terms
  • Recognizes trends and patterns and identifies data relationships and dependencies
  • Makes recommendations based on analysis
  • Consistently delivers high-quality work, setting an example for others

Portfolio Management
  • Monitor and manage portfolio activities individually and/or jointly with Relationship Manager, based on size and complexity of client relationship
  • Provide leadership role in loan renewals, annual review and other regular reporting for existing loan relationships
  • Review and monitor trends to ensure accurate risk rating and appropriate risk mitigation is in place at all times
  • Proactively identifies opportunities and contributes to team success
  • Additional responsibilities may include oversight of specific Commercial Segment including significant input regarding polices and processes to help manage performance and risk management across the bank

Relationship Management
  • Cultivates and sustains high-value relationships with both internal stakeholders and key clients
  • Demonstrates empathy, openness to diverse viewpoints, and a collaborative mindset
  • Serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner
  • Leads by example in fostering collaboration, resolving conflict, and expanding client relationships to support long-term growth and retention

Teamwork
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working relationships with all commercial related associates and functions
  • Collaborate with others to maintain/improve overall processes and procedures while being sensitive to the voice of the client in daily interactions
  • Encourage open communication and ensure that all parties have the opportunity to share concerns and opinions

  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of business strategy, regulatory frameworks, and market forces
  • Anticipates implications of credit decisions on profitability, risk, and customer relationships
  • Aligns efforts with enterprise-wide goals and Emprise's long-term vision

  • Consistently exercises advanced-level judgment in complex credit and portfolio decisions
  • Anticipates downstream impacts and integrates strategic, financial, and regulatory considerations
  • Serves as a resource for peers and contributes to decision-making frameworks and policy refinement

Compliance
  • Stays current with regulatory activities and complies with legal and regulatory guidelines
  • Ensures that credit decisions are appropriately documented

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline, or level of education that, together with industry experience, enables the applicant to meet the job requirements
  • Minimum of two years' overall banking experience required in growth-oriented commercial or corporate lending environment with experience in portfolio management and/or underwriting
  • Thorough knowledge of credit policies, procedures and terminology
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with large server-based applications and typical desktop software
  • Solid understanding of regulatory and compliance guidelines and requirements concerning all aspects of commercial credit
