Job description

As Scout'sย Capital Marketsย Associate, you will play an integralย role inย capital raising activitiesย for our growing portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects. We expect aย high volumeย of transactionsย andย areย expanding the teamย to support that growth.ย 

In this position, you will provide key support to project finance, corporate finance, and capital recyclingย transactions. Beyond your financialย modeling andย analysis,ย your work will include a combination of engagement with capital providers (debt, tax equity, and equity), day-to-day management of transactions, and collaboration with teams across the organization.ย Your deal-oriented mindset will enable you toย craftย optimalย capitalย solutions,ย identifyย and manageย diligenceย risks,ย andย efficiently drive transactions to closeย - all while integrating the Scout Values in the way you work and relate to others.ย 

Key duties in your role will include the following:ย 

  • Supportย transactions across the investment lifecycle - from origination to financial modeling,ย boardย approvals,ย due diligence,ย definitive documentation, and deal closing.ย 
  • Draftย compellingย transaction marketing materialsย for distribution to prospectiveย lenders and investors.ย 
  • Analyze term sheets and proposalsย to supportย recommendations forย optimalย financing structuresย to senior management.ย 
  • Maintain transaction modelsย forย debt, tax equity, andย other equity processes.ย 
  • Supportย transactionย due diligence andย interfaceย withย external financing partiesย andย consultants.ย 
  • Collaborate with our Development,ย Commercial,ย EPC, and Asset Management teams toย collect,ย organize, and manageย transaction deliverablesย in external data rooms.ย 
  • Develop and manage relationships withย external counsel, advisors,ย andย providers of debt, taxย equity, andย equityย capitalย toย optimizeย our project financings.ย 
  • Complete other duties as assigned.ย 

You will report to the Senior Manager of Capital Markets. You will be a tight-knit and efficient group that collaborates effectively toย executeย transactions. Our team's work style requires both collaborative and independent work at all levels.ย 

Requirements

  • Aย Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business,ย Economicsย orย aย relatedย field.ย 
  • 1-2ย years ofย relevantย experience inย renewablesย investment banking and/orย theย renewable energy industry,ย withย aย focus onย modeling tax equity and debt structures.ย Experience inย utility-scale renewable energy finance (> 80 MW per project) is preferred.ย 
  • Experienceย supportingย renewablesย capital markets transactionsย is preferredย (tax equity, project debt, corporate debt, M&A).ย 
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (including VBA), Word,ย and PowerPoint.ย 
  • Independentย learnerย who can quickly apply lessons learned in one area to all other work areas.ย 
  • Self-motivator with exceptionalย verbal, written, and visual communication skills.ย 
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver top-quality workย productย in multiple areas without direct supervision.ย 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.ย 
  • High emotional IQย - strongย interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties.ย 
  • Authorized to work in the United States.ย

Target base salary: $80,000 - $100,000 (Negotiable for the right candidate.)ย
