Job description

Job Title: Buyer Location: Houston area, Texas Job Type: Contract Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM Pay Rate: $24.00 - $28.00/hr (DOE) Position Overview: LHH is proactively seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Buyer to join our client's team on a contract basis in the Houston area. This role will support procurement operations by sourcing materials, placing orders, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining clear communication with internal teams and suppliers. As a Buyer, you will play a key role in day-to-day purchasing activities, supplier coordination, and order management. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in purchasing or supply chain support. Key Responsibilities: • Process and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely placement. • Coordinate with suppliers to confirm pricing, availability, and delivery schedules. • Track order status and proactively follow up on delays, backorders, or discrepancies. • Maintain accurate purchasing records, including vendor information and order history. • Communicate with internal teams to support inventory needs and align on priorities. • Assist with supplier quotes and basic negotiations under team guidance. • Support inventory tracking and replenishment efforts. • Resolve invoice and receipt discrepancies in collaboration with accounting and receiving teams. • Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures and documentation standards. • Assist with reports, data entry, and special projects within the procurement function. Qualifications: Education: • High school diploma required; Associate's degree or coursework in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred. Experience: • 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement support, or supply chain. Technical Skills: • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). • Experience with ERP systems is a plus but not required. Communication: • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal teams. Organization: • Ability to manage multiple orders and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Attention to Detail: • High level of accuracy in data entry and order tracking. Problem-Solving: • Basic troubleshooting skills with the ability to escalate issues appropriately. Teamwork: • Collaborative mindset and willingness to support cross-functional teams.
