Position Summary:

The Buyer is a member of the Purchasing Department responsible for the procurement of raw materials, supplies and equipment for the Huntsville Factory.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Receives, reviews, and processes purchasing requisitions.

2. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests for materials, supplies and equipment.

3. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

4. Maintains procurement records for items or services purchased, cost, delivery, product quality and/or performance and inventory.

5. Thoroughly scrub bill of materials (BOM’S) to ensure pricing, quantity and product/material is correct and initiate corrective action when necessary.

6. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.

7. Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine sources of trouble and take corrective actions.

8. All other duties as assigned by management to ensure the success of Futaba.


Experience and Educational Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant field preferred.

2. Associates degree in a relevant field and/or 3-5 years purchasing/materials experience of electronic components, materials, parts and supplies.

3. Advanced MS Office skills, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook are required.
