IDS seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst with a strong background in business and process analysis, requirements gathering, and testing to support the evaluation and implementation of a new investment data platform.
The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) Investment Decision Support (IDS) team are the primary data stewards for the Investments Department. IDS connects data to investment analysis by overseeing all aspects of the data management life cycle. They work closely with investment programs to understand their business data and decision support requirements, develop tools to extract valuable and timely information, and continuously improve processes and systems to ensure high levels of data integrity and availability. The IDS team is seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst with a strong background in business and process analysis, requirements gathering, and testing to support the evaluation and implementation of a new investment data platform. This role will focus on assessing current-state processes, data flows, and systems, and partnering with business stakeholders to define future-state capabilities that align with strategic investment objectives.
Scope:
The Investment Decision Support team is seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst who will actively support current-state analysis and the implementation of a new investment data platform through the following:
• Partner with Investment stakeholders to document current-state processes, systems, and data flows, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Conduct interviews and working sessions to capture business needs and translate them into clear requirements for the new data platform.
• Elicit, document, and manage business and technical requirements to support platform design and implementation.
• Support the definition of future-state workflows and operating models aligned with the new investment data platform.
• Develop a strong understanding of existing investment systems and data architecture, including integration points and dependencies.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation including current-state assessments, future-state designs, and data flow diagrams.
• Assist with data mapping, validation, and reconciliation activities during platform implementation.
• Develop and execute testing strategies, including user acceptance testing, to ensure successful delivery of platform capabilities.
• Support change management and transition activities to ensure adoption of new processes and systems.
• Provide ongoing support through data analysis, reporting, and process refinement as the platform is implemented and stabilized.
• Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives as directed by the IDS Research Director.
Required Skills
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• 7+ years of experience in gathering and documenting requirements, improving business and technical processes, and creating and implementing testing plans.
