Job Summary

As a Behavior Therapist, you will work with a variety of individuals in a 1:1 capacity. Individuals served have developmental, behavioral, and/or social deficits. You will implement teaching programs based on the individual’s treatment and behavior plan designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Upon onboarding, you will receive on-site training and will be supported by other professionals as you learn the client’s programming & procedures. You will gain skills & knowledge that will benefit your unique career path in the vast health and human services field, such as careers in psychology, special education, social work, speech pathology, occupational therapy, and more.

Primary Responsibilities

·         Implement the client’s Treatment & Behavior Plan, designed by the BCBA

o   For example, teach communication skills, play skills, education skills, self-care skills, and more!

·         Build and maintain a relationship with the client through pairing, including physical and social engagement (e.g., tickles, high fives, games, etc.)

·         Continuously collect data on client’s goals and behaviors through trained data collection applications

·         Document daily care, including progress, updates, and preferences

·         Communicate with caregivers on client’s progress and relay family updates to the supervisor

·         Collaborate with other treatment team members, including coordination of care

·         Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work & therapy environment

·         Maintain client confidentiality and dignity

·         Attend weekly team meetings & ongoing training

Requirements

·         Must be 18 years or older

·         Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

·         Must pass a criminal and DHS provider background check

·         Reliable transportation

·         Meets one of the following Qualifications:

o   Enrolled or completed a bachelor's degree (Must be in- psychology, mental health, special education, social work, speech pathology, occupational therapy, or related field)

o   Or a completed associates degree in a behavioral or child development science with at least 2,000 hours (1 year) of supervised clinical experience working with individuals with ASD or related condition.

o   Or 4,000 hours (2 years) of supervised clinical experience working with individuals with ASD or related conditions.

o   Or have obtained a high school diploma AND are bi-lingual

Physical Requirements

·         Must be able to lift up to 50lbs

·         Frequent squatting, kneeling, standing, sitting, and walking

·         Ability to change body position quickly to ensure client safety

Schedule

Full-time employees will work Monday through Friday, 7:45 am - 4:15 pm. To qualify as a full-time employee, a minimum of 30 hours/week is required.

Client sessions are no more than 2 hours in duration, with client transitions occurring at least four times a day.

• 8am-10am

• 10am-12pm

• 12pm-2pm

• 2pm-4pm

Part-time schedules are made Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30am - 7:30pm, depending on the client’s schedule. Schedules are discussed during onboarding. To qualify as a part-time employee, a minimum of 15 hours/week is required

No nights or weekends required! Weekends may be available depending on client preference!

The work is often fast-paced and routine, with differing personalities and teaching styles both encouraged and expected. Challenging situations are supported with our behavior support team at the click of a button.

• Footwear and Safety: Footwear must be appropriate for program activities and provide adequate protection. Closed-toed shoes are recommended.

Salary

The starting payrate will be within the $19-$23/hour range, based on experience and education.
