Job Description Architect III - Azure Data Platform / Enterprise Data Architect Location: Houston, TX 77002 (Onsite) Duration: 5-Month Contract (8/3/2026 - 1/1/2027) Pay Rate: $85 to $130/hour (W2) Industry: Energy / Oil & Gas Schedule: 40 hours/week Position Summary We are seeking a senior Architect III to lead the evaluation, architecture, and implementation of enterprise data platforms supporting large-scale cloud, AI, and data modernization initiatives for a global energy organization. This role requires an experienced architect with deep expertise in Azure, Databricks, enterprise data architecture, governance, and system integration. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership across vendor evaluations, proof of concepts, architecture design, and implementation while partnering closely with engineering teams and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Lead technology evaluations, proof of concepts (PoCs), and vendor selection for enterprise data and AI platforms. Design end-to-end enterprise data solutions utilizing Azure, Databricks, and modern data management technologies. Provide architecture leadership for scalable, secure, and cost-effective implementations.

Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical architecture and implementation plans. Design and optimize enterprise data pipelines and platform performance. Develop architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and best practices.

Guide engineering teams throughout implementation and integration efforts. Required Technical Skills 10+ years of experience in enterprise technology architecture. Deep expertise with: Azure Data Factory (ADF) Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS) Azure Synapse Analytics Azure Cosmos DB Hands-on Azure Databricks experience including: Apache Spark Delta Lake Unity Catalog Strong SQL, Python, PowerShell, and CI/CD experience.

Experience with GitHub, DevOps, automation frameworks, and Identity & Access Management (IAM). Experience implementing: Metadata Management Data Marketplace Data Observability Data Governance platforms Experience with Collibra, Monte Carlo, ServiceNow, or similar enterprise platforms. Strong enterprise architecture experience including: Lakehouse Architecture Medallion Architecture TOGAF DAMA-DMBOK Proven experience integrating enterprise data platforms and vendor technologies.

Preferred Qualifications Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate Databricks Certifications Experience in large enterprise cloud and data modernization initiatives. Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to explain complex technical concepts to executive and business audiences.
