Job description

Hunton Services, a division of in Houston, TX has an exciting opportunity to join our organization as a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Programmer. Selected candidate will be responsible for installation, diagnoses and repair of environmental-comfort systems, utilizing knowledge of air conditioning theory, hydronic theory and modern control techniques.

Responsibilities:
  • Install and configure BAS controllers, sensors, and related components according to design specifications.
  • Commission BAS systems, ensuring proper function and integration with HVAC, lighting, and other building systems.
  • Calibrate and test system components, including temperature sensors, actuators, dampers, and other control devices.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on BAS systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Diagnose and repair system malfunctions, control problems, and communication issues in BAS networks.
  • Analyze system data and alarms to resolve issues and recommend system improvements.
  • Upgrade and update BAS software and firmware as needed.
  • Provide on-site technical support to clients, answering questions and addressing concerns regarding BAS operations.
  • Train building owners and operators on the use of automation systems, including how to access and interpret data from the control interface.
  • Ensure excellent customer service by maintaining strong communication and delivering timely solutions.
  • Create and maintain accurate service records, including work performed, system configurations, and repairs made.
  • Generate reports detailing system performance, energy savings, and any issues encountered.
  • Assist in creating operation manuals and training materials for clients.
  • Follow industry standards, local codes, and company policies related to system installations, service, and safety.
  • Ensure that all work is conducted in a safe and compliant manner, adhering to OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree from technical school in HVAC, Building Automation, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in building automation systems, HVAC controls, or a similar field.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining DDC (Direct Digital Controls) systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and control principles.
  • Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Tridium, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, or Schneider Electric.
  • Proficiency with BAS networking, including BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks protocols.
  • Low Voltage electrical background is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.

Certifications:
  • BAS-specific certifications (e.g., Tridium, Siemens, or Honeywell BAS certifications) preferred.
  • HVAC, electrical, or IT-related certifications are a plus.

Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights and in varying temperatures.

Work Environment:
  • The role involves working in commercial, industrial, or institutional buildings, including plant rooms, offices, and rooftops.
