The County of Tehama is looking for a hands-on IT professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and supporting systems that keep County operations running.

This position focuses on administering and maintaining Microsoft-based environments, including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Azure, while delivering high-quality technical support across departments. The ideal candidate is skilled in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, and is comfortable deploying and maintaining systems and devices in a dynamic environment. Experience using PowerShell to automate tasks and improve efficiency is highly valued.

This role requires a dependable, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering secure, reliable, and customer-focused IT services. Examples of Duties Examples of Duties May Include, But Are Not Limited To: Provides technical support and systems administration across County departments, including responding to and resolving service desk requests; troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and network issues; deploying, configuring, and maintaining desktops, mobile devices, and enterprise applications; administering user accounts, permissions, and access controls within Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments; monitoring system performance and maintaining system reliability through patching, updates, and proactive maintenance; utilizing monitoring and alerting tools to identify and resolve issues; assisting with implementation of infrastructure, security, and modernization initiatives; developing and maintaining basic automation using tools such as PowerShell to improve operational efficiency; documenting systems, procedures, and technical solutions; and collaborating with staff, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and customer-focused technology services aligned with County needs and supporting ongoing cybersecurity, cloud, and infrastructure modernization efforts. Knowledge Of: Operational characteristics, services, and activities of information systems; principles and practices of computer systems management, maintenance, and support; design, operations, and capabilities of networks and network systems; communications protocols such as TCP/IP; operation and care of computer equipment and peripheral devices; methods and techniques for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues; technical report writing practices and procedures; record keeping principles and procedures; applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to information systems; and techniques for providing a high level of customer service.

Skill In: Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues in a timely and effective manner; administering user accounts, permissions, and access controls; installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, applications, and devices; monitoring system performance and responding to alerts and operational issues; managing multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment; communicating technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical users; and providing high-quality customer service and support to end users. Ability To: Perform complex computer system installation, maintenance, and support work; analyze problems, identify solutions, and implement recommendations; monitor and support networks; evaluate and prioritize hardware and software requests; research and recommend cost-effective system improvements; prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation; respond to requests and inquiries from end users; organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines; communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships; work independently and as part of a team; and monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues. Education, Experience & Licenses Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field and an Information Technology Career Certification such as CCNA, CCDA, MCP, SCNA, SCSA, or other applicable certifications. Three (3) years of applications software analysis, design and programming, including experience in application development with an online interactive database system. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

License & Special Requirements: A valid California Class C driver's license or alternative form of transportation may be required for some positions at the time of appointment.
