Job description

As an Associate Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering and technical support for process controls and manufacturing execution systems in the Biopharmaceutical Operations facility. Evaluate and develop technology, plan and implement modifications, troubleshoot and support process controls and manufacturing execution systems and assist in night shift troubleshooting activities during processing operations.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Provide technical support of site automation systems and network infrastructure. Critical systems include DeltaV DCS and Syncade MES.

    • As directed, support automation workstreams across the system development life cycle: gather system/end user requirements; complete design, implementation, and testing/validation of changes; maintain documentation; maintain and monitor various systems.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with process controls and manufacturing execution systems; generate recommendations and then develop/execute solutions to correct and resolve.

  • Drive continuous improvement and support capital projects.

  • Adhere to, develop, and continuously improve the operation and maintenance procedures for process controls and manufacturing execution systems.

  • Support the maintenance and upkeep of the operational technology environment through work order execution and administration of systems, networks, databases, and accounts. This includes servers, hosts, and analytical equipment.

  • Work in a way that models respect for safety and EHS, quality compliance, data integrity, and engineering standards.

  • Generate and maintain automation design specification and functional specification documents and ensure documents maintain good GxP documentation.

  • Communicate with different operational groups to understand the process and business operations and communicate technical issues and opportunities back to the automation team.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BS/BA in engineering, life sciences, biology

  • 2+ years of experience working in or understanding of a GMP environment

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Prior education or experience in the design, programming, and troubleshooting of Emerson Syncade, DeltaV or similar MES/DCS systems.

  • Experience working in or understanding of a GMP environment.

  • Knowledge in current standards of control system platforms and computer system validation.

  • A demonstrated capability to interact well with peers and senior personnel in multidisciplinary teams involving scientific, engineering, and operational disciplines

  • Ability to communicate problems and escalations to peers within the Automation team as well as other stakeholders

  • Shows the aptitude for prioritization and multi tasking to ensure the team is meeting the needs of stakeholders.

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and succeed in a team environment

  • Highly motivated and self-driven with a desire to continuously improve own skill set. Able to function productively with minimal supervision
