Job Title: Automation and Controls Engineer

Location: Alpharetta, GA (in-house + field travel to client sites, approx. 30โ€“40%, varies by project)

Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)


About Us

Tri-Sphyre LLC is an industrial automation and controls integration company based in Alpharetta, GA. We provide PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, VFD/drive systems, custom control panel fabrication, and field services to clients in the steel, dredging, and food/grain processing industries.

Job Summary

We're looking for an Automation and Controls Engineer to join our team, combining hands-on field service, technical troubleshooting, and project work. This role supports our clients on-site and in-house, from commissioning and startups to ongoing maintenance and control system upgrades. Travel to client sites runs approximately 30โ€“40%, depending on active projects.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to client sites for equipment commissioning, startup support, and troubleshooting
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs/drives, and control panels, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
  • Support project engineering: panel design input, programming, and documentation
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics using EPLAN for system integration and troubleshooting
  • Set up and maintain industrial network communication between control devices (e.g., EtherNet/IP, Profibus)
  • Communicate directly with clients on-site regarding system status and repairs
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on project deliverables and timelines
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or field service (required โ€” candidates with less than 3 years will not be considered)
  • Experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA programming (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, or similar)
  • Familiarity with EPLAN or similar electrical schematic software
  • Familiarity with VFDs/drive systems and control panel wiring
  • Knowledge of industrial network protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, or similar) a plus
  • Comfortable with regular travel to client sites (approx. 30โ€“40%)
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
