Job description

NextStep Recruiting has partnered with a legal services organization to identify an Associate Attorney in St. Louis, MO. This role will begin onsite with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule after 1–6 months and will support a creditor-focused legal practice with regular courtroom exposure.


This position is ideal for an attorney with 1+ years of experience who wants hands-on litigation experience without billable hour requirements. Candidates from any practice area are welcome, and training will be provided.


Required:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and active Missouri Bar license
  • 1+ year of experience practicing as an attorney
  • Comfortable with regular court appearances and handling litigation matters
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage deadlines, cases, and competing priorities


Preferred:

  • Dual licensure in Missouri and Kansas
  • 1–2 years of collections, creditors’ rights, or related litigation experience
  • Experience drafting or reviewing pleadings, motions, and discovery
  • Prior courtroom, trial, arbitration, or contested-matter experience
  • Interest in developing a long-term litigation career within a supportive legal team


Compensation ranges from $85K–$120K plus a discretionary bonus, along with comprehensive benefits, retirement options, profit sharing, and opportunities for advancement.
