The Department of Pathology, Division of Laboratory Medicine, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible pathologist with fellowship training in Transfusion Medicine for an open rank/open tenure position of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Applicants must possess an MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree and have completed an ACGME-accredited ABP fellowship in Transfusion Medicine.
Prospective faculty members will be expected to provide blood bank, coagulation and aphaeresis services, participate in fellow, resident, and medical student education, and engage in ongoing collaborative research efforts within a multidisciplinary team of well-established clinical investigators. Applicants should have established national or international recognition in Transfusion Medicine or demonstrate significant potential and motivation to build a successful academic career in this field. Expertise in machine learning algorithms, the application of artificial intelligence to laboratory medicine, or other innovative research focus areas is highly desirable.
