Lab Tech - AP/Micro
Full-time, 40 hr/week, 3:00pm-1:30am
Monday-Sunday with rotating weekends and Holidays
Hourly rate: $17.40+
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performing over 220,000 tests per year, the Micro lab at Trinity Health is one of the largest in the state of Michigan. This is a state-of-the-art microbiology lab where you will be able to utilize your experience and skills, but also to learn and grow within this unique field. Located in Trinity Health Ann Arbor you will be centrally located to the art, culture, academics, entertainment and activities that Ann Arbor provides.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Two years of college course work completed (40-60 credit hours) with emphasis in a science curriculum or equivalent with 12 hours Science credits preferred (must be able to provide valid transcripts).
  • Associates of Science, Applied Science (or similar) preferred.

Analytical-Waived/Moderately Complex Testing
Perform specified waived and/or moderately complex testing and assess/investigate integrity of test results per CLIA testing personnel responsibilities. Perform, result, review and maintain quality control records and seek assistance for resolution of issues. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment used in performing job functions. Perform proficiency testing, per standard patient testing protocol.
Specimen Processing Tasks
Process and evaluate orders and specimens for acceptability. Maintain specimen identification and integrity through entire process. Prioritize and distribute specimens to appropriate section for analysis Prepare specimens to be sent to testing laboratory
Clerical and Service Tasks
Answer large number of telephone inquiries Fax, mail and deliver reports to appropriate location Maintain and file laboratory records and reports.
Additional Duties
Check orders and place test orders, as required Collect and receive patient samples, if required Load specimens on automated analyzer, as required. Perform culture plating techniques and reagent preparation, as required. Load specimens on automated analyzer, as required. Restock area and assist Medical lab scientist with in the lab.
