blueStone has been retained by a Global Consumer Products Organization in their search for a Sr SAP ABAP Developer within Supply Chain.

Job Description

The Senior SAP Programmer is part of a diverse team which is responsible for delivering simple to complex solutions and programs that implement and enhance the current business processes in SAP. This position will be involved in various phases of a life cycle implementation which include design, development, build prototypes, develop and test RICEFW objects, cutover activities, user training and post Go-Live Support. This position will work closely with the Functional Teams and Users to gather requirements design and develop solutions in SAP. This position will convert high level requirements into designs and solutions in SAP. This position will also participate in demonstrating the development units to the User Groups. These roles will work in a challenging and fast paced agile environment.

Specific Duties:

  • Analyze business functional requirements and develop solutions and programs in SAP.
  • Facilitate and lead the development and delivery of RICEFW objects in multiple areas of SAP such as FI, MM, SD, WM, PP, etc.
  • Translate high level functional requirements into technical requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible for developers and other team members.
  • Facilitate and participate in User Demos of Development Units.
  • Mentor and provide coaching to ERP Associate Programmers and ERP Programmers.
  • Design and develop complex solutions and objects in multiple areas of SAP.
  • Gather requirements for new development objects from Users and convert them into Technical Designs.
  • Assist by providing time estimates of the assigned project tasks and report any estimate changes.
  • Design and deliver Technical Units using Agile Development model and/or Waterfall project methodology.
  • Provide ABAP support and enhance multiple modules within SAP, including custom and delivered programs.
  • Support troubleshooting inbound and outbound interfaces.
  • Provide technical assistance to the process teams in debugging functional issues as needed.
  • Work with vendors and internal parties to troubleshoot and fix data interfaces.
  • Design and develop comprehensive and thorough test cases for the development unit by following Test Driven Development approach.
  • Unit test and debug new program changes for all types of development objects.
  • Tune the solutions and objects for performance in multiple areas of SAP.
  • Support and facilitate integration testing of various RICEFW objects.
  • Monitor and facilitate defect resolution of RICEFW objects in HP Quality Center.
  • Facilitate the transport of various objects and solutions across the SAP landscape.
  • Participate in cutover activities during the Go-Live phase.
  • Participate and facilitate the post Go-Live support activities.
  • Work closely with SAP functional teams to analyze and test the effect of system changes as needed.
  • Provide day-to-day, occasional after hours and on-call application support as needed.
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information; adhere to company security policies.
  • Establish time requirements for assignment completion and perform assignment with accurate results in the estimated time frame.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize, control, and direct work assignments for self and team members.
  • Maintain technical expertise, keeping current with evolving processes, systems, and technologies and sharing that knowledge with colleagues and IT management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Information Technology, Math, Science, Engineering or related field
  • At least 8 years of experience working as a SAP Developer
  • At least 1 full lifecycle SAP implementation project
  • At least 1 SAP project focused on SCM RICEFW development objects
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments concurrently
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the development lifecycle of RICEFW objects including performance tuning and transport of each of the objects
  • Strong knowledge and experience in SAP ABAP Workbench, ABAP Programming Language include Object Oriented development using ABAP Objects, SAP Data Dictionary, SAP design and coding techniques
  • Strong knowledge and experience in SAP Development tools which include BADI's, User-Exits including Enhancement points/spots, Batch Recording, BDC Programming, Dialog Programming, ALV reports, Interfaces using BAPI's/IDOC's, RFC's, eCATT, CATT, Forms which include Scripts, Smartforms and/or Adobe Forms, handling conversions using standard SAP methodologies, SAP translations and customize development to multiple languages
  • Strong knowledge and experience in searching SAP Notes and application of SAP Notes whenever applicable
  • Ability to create OSS messages and correspond with SAP experts as necessary
  • Ability to clearly identify the differences between SAP system modification and enhancements. Ability to provide a clear direction on the usage of both forms of enhancement.
  • Knowledge of N and N+1 system landscape
  • Strong knowledge of SAP Transport layers
  • Strong experience in the different kinds of Transport Request and SAP best practices in handling transports
  • Very strong debugging skills to identify and resolve deep seated technical issues including system debugging
  • Strong knowledge and experience in SAP Workflow and Custom Business object design and development
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Customer service orientation
  • Additional work hours as occasionally required, including weekends
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure project environment
  • Ability to travel up to 5% domestically and internationally
  • Hands on experience in developing custom solutions in RF technologies preferred
  • Experience working in the Order to Cash (OTC) process area preferred
  • Exposure/Experience in the new technologies of ABAP such as Web Dynpro development is highly desired
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of Unit test cases using ABAP Unit is preferred
  • SAP PI exposure preferred
  • Exposure to Business Objects Data Services is preferred
