Associate Finishes and Corrosion Protection Engineer

Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) is seeking an Associate Finishes & Corrosion Protection Engineer (Level 2) to join our 787 Wing & Empennage Engineering Support Team in North Charleston, South Carolina.

As the exclusive site of the revolutionary 787 Dreamliner, our teams deliver one of the most advanced commercial airplanes in the world - connecting people, economies, and possibilities across the globe. We are accelerating production, expanding our capabilities, and building our engineering team to carry the 787 program into its next chapter. This is your opportunity to be a part of a high-impact Engineering Support team that enables our 787 Airplane Program.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with defining engineering requirements; select or recommend parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technologies, tools, and automation systems to support product design and manufacturing in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations

  • Plan and execute qualification activities for new materials, parts, processes, and suppliers, including test programs and audits

  • Perform routine failure and performance analyses of tools, materials, parts, or processes to identify root causes and recommend corrective or preventive actions

  • Support management of test programs, supplier qualifications, and related documentation to ensure compliance with program requirements

  • Apply project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule objectives for assigned tasks and projects

  • Integrate environmental health and safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into materials/process design, research and qualification, procedures, and laboratory/office operations

  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other engineering teams to support product development and production readiness

  • Maintain technical records, specifications, and reports to support audits, certifications, and continuous improvement efforts

  • Possess and encourage others to have a mindset of Safety and First Pass Quality

  • Influence others to exhibit Boeing Values and Behaviors

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to workonsitein North Charleston, South Carolina.

This position may require up to 20% travel, domestically or internationally.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry

  • 2+ years of experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment

  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications

  • Experience with chemical technology or a material focus area: paints, coating, finishes, and/or sealants

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in a materials and processes engineering environment

  • Experience with aerospace inorganic finishes, including surface treatments and plating

  • Experience with aerospace organic finishes, including paints, coatings, and sealants

  • Experience with aerospace chemical coating application

  • Experience with coating and finishes material qualification

  • Experience working with suppliers associated with an engineering production system

  • Problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills
