Job Description:
As a CMM Technician, you will be responsible for performing precise inspections and measurements on components used in aerospace piston engine manufacturing. Utilizing your expertise in CMM operation and PC-DMIS software, you will ensure that all parts meet stringent quality and tolerance requirements. You will work closely with the engineering and production teams to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring that all parts and assemblies conform to industry and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect aerospace engine components and ensure adherence to design specifications and tolerances.
  • Utilize PC-DMIS software to develop, modify, and execute measurement programs for 3D inspection of complex aerospace parts.
  • Perform routine inspections on critical engine components, including machined parts, castings, and assemblies.
  • Analyze and interpret measurement data, generate inspection reports, and communicate findings to engineering and production teams.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality control staff to identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct first article inspections (FAI) and in-process inspections to verify part conformance at different stages of production.
  • Assist in the calibration of CMM machines and measurement instruments, ensuring all equipment is maintained in peak working condition.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on CMMs and troubleshoot equipment issues as necessary.
  • Ensure that all documentation and measurement records are accurate, complete, and in compliance with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, FAA).
  • Follow all safety procedures and work in compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CMM Technician, with a strong background in aerospace manufacturing or precision machining.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of PC-DMIS software for programming and operating CMM machines, with experience in both contact and non-contact measurement techniques.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certifications or an associate degree in a related field (e.g., mechanical engineering technology) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, GD amp;T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and CAD models. Experience with CMM calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting is essential.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in measurements, with a strong focus on quality control and continuous improvement.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively report inspection findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to analyze complex measurement data and identify discrepancies or issues, proposing effective solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the aerospace industry, particularly with piston engines or related components.
  • Familiarity with additional software tools used for CAD/CAM integration or data analysis.
  • Certification in CMM operation or quality control (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Technician or equivalent).
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, bending, or sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to handle precision measurement tools and instruments.
Benefits:
