Associate Advocate information

What is an associate advocate?

Associate Advocates are entry- to mid-level professionals who support legal cases, client representation, or advocacy work under the supervision of senior advocates or attorneys. Their responsibilities may include conducting legal research, drafting documents, assisting with case preparation, and communicating with clients. Associate Advocates often work in law firms, non-profit organizations, or corporate legal departments and help ensure that clients’ legal needs are met efficiently. They are typically early in their legal careers and may be working towards becoming fully qualified advocates or attorneys.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an associate advocate?

To excel as an Associate Advocate, you need a law degree, strong legal research and writing abilities, and admission to the bar. Familiarity with legal databases (such as Westlaw or LexisNexis), case management software, and court filing systems is essential. Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and attention to detail are valuable soft skills for building client trust and crafting persuasive arguments. These skills and qualifications ensure effective legal representation, case preparation, and successful client advocacy.

What are common challenges faced by an associate advocate when working on multiple cases simultaneously?

As an Associate Advocate, managing multiple cases at once can be challenging due to competing deadlines, varying client needs, and the need to stay updated on diverse legal issues. Effective time management and organizational skills are essential to prioritize tasks, prepare documents, and coordinate with senior advocates and clients. Additionally, adapting quickly to changing case requirements and maintaining high attention to detail are crucial for success in this dynamic environment.

Overview
About the job
We're looking for an Associate Client Advocate for our office in Alpharetta, GA. The position is full-time and on-site. You'll be a key member of our Customer Advocacy team, engaging customers directly and helping manage the AI-powered tools that support our collections and renewals efforts.
About the role
You'll spend your day on the phone, proactively reaching out to customers to build relationships and carry productive conversations. You'll manage AI agents and related workflows that support customer outreach, and you'll apply strong business judgment to support collections and renewal activities, regardless of whether you've worked in collections before.
Key Responsibilities
You'll make proactive outbound calls to customers, targeting 40-50+ calls per day, confidently initiating conversations and building rapport. You'll oversee and manage AI agents and the workflows behind them, making sure automated customer touchpoints run smoothly and escalating where a human conversation is needed.
You'll support collections conversations, discussing outstanding balances and payment options with customers in a clear, professional way. You'll also support renewal discussions, helping customers see the value in staying with Aptean and flagging opportunities for your team.
You'll use general business acumen to prioritize your outreach and understand the bigger picture behind each account. You'll partner closely with your Team Manager on escalations, complex accounts, and process improvements.
About you
You're a confident, natural communicator who isn't afraid to pick up the phone. You're comfortable making 40-50+ outbound calls daily and thrive on carrying a conversation, building trust quickly, and keeping customers engaged. You bring strong general business acumen and good judgment about when to push and when to listen.
You're comfortable working alongside AI tools, and genuinely interested in learning how to manage and get the most out of AI agents as part of your daily workflow. You're customer-focused, adaptable, and energized by a fast-paced environment.
Prior experience in collections is not required. What matters most is your ability to get on the phone, hold a great conversation, and represent Aptean well. You communicate clearly in English and are comfortable in Excel and word processing software.
To be ahead of the pack, you might have:
  • Experience in customer service, sales, collections, or renewals

  • Experience working with AI tools, digital assistants, or automation platforms

  • Familiarity with CRM systems

  • A track record of hitting outreach or engagement targets

Preferred Skills
  • Salesforce or similar CRM platforms

  • Excel and word processing software

  • Comfort learning and working with AI-powered tools
