About the Job:

The Project Accountant will display a good working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable and job cost systems. Be able to answer questions from project managers or anyone regarding status of an accounts payable or receivable invoice. Know what information the job cost system can give the project managers and what reports are available to them. Manage time effectively to get the work completed on schedule and ability to prioritize workload.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Set-up new jobs from job data sheet.
  • Enter and maintain job budgets as required by project mangers.
  • Set-up prime contracts in accounting system and maintain the change orders.
  • Print job reports for projects managers as necessary.
  • Assist Project Managers and superintendent with other financial matters, such as setting-up accounts with suppliers, etc.
  • Assist in job audits.
  • Contract Brief review with Accounting Manager.
  • Set-up subcontracts in accounting system/Textura.
  • Monitor subcontracts in accounting system and Textura.
  • Ensure all subcontractor issued contracts.
  • Make sure sub billings do not exceed contract and/or make sure PM writes pending change orders.
  • Process invoices electronically through DataServ and Textura.
  • Match invoices with backup (field POs and receiving tickets).
  • Request invoices from subs and vendors if necessary.
  • Assist vendors and subcontractors when inquiring on invoice/payment status.
  • Prepare invoicing format according to the owner's contract and enter as much information as possible for the PM.
  • Prepare original invoice (send all information as required by owner such as lien waivers, accompanying schedules, copies of invoices, etc.)
  • Enter invoice into accounting system.
  • Make sure all systems remain in sync – PMWeb, JD Edwards, DataServ and Textura.
  • Any other projects or related duties that arise over the normal course of business.

Requirements

  • Associates and working towards a BS/BA in Accounting.
  • 2-3 years accounting experience with a General Contractor/Subcontract.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Need good communication and organizational skills.
  • JD Edwards experience a plus.
