Job description

The Commercial Account Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing relationships with assigned Commercial customers to maximize customer retention, satisfaction, and account profitability. This role requires strong sales and communication skills, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include managing and developing customer relationships, identifying account growth opportunities, coordinating with internal teams, overseeing contract renewals, and maintaining CRM activity to drive customer retention and satisfaction. Success is measured by customer retention, account growth, customer engagement, and the development of long-term customer partnerships.
This is a hybrid position.
$55k-$80k+ annually (base plus earned commission)
Responsibilities
  • Proactively develop relationships with existing Commercial accounts through outreach activities, such as cold calling, customer service, networking, and community engagement.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned Commercial customers, building strong relationships, maintaining regular communication, and ensuring a seamless customer experience throughout the lifecycle of the account.
  • Identify, develop, and close cross-sell and upsell opportunities with assigned Commercial accounts to expand account value and strengthen customer relationships
  • Conduct regular account reviews with assigned customers to evaluate satisfaction, identify operational challenges, and uncover opportunities for growth and retention.
  • Monitor customer purchasing trends, fuel volumes, and account activity to proactively address risks and identify opportunities to increase account penetration.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to facilitate timely resolution of customer service, delivery, billing, and operational issues.
  • Proactively engage customers prior to contract expiration to review service performance and secure renewal commitments.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of and answer questions about the company and offered products, services, and availability
  • Participate in initial and ongoing sales training programs, including Sandler Sales Training, to develop effective sales techniques and strategies.
  • Follow Tevis' problem-centric sales process:
    • Diagnose compelling reasons for doing business with Tevis (pain points)
    • Uncover the budget customer is willing and/or able to invest into solutions (budget)
    • Present solutions promoting Tevis products and services
  • Communicate accurately and timely with the operations team to prepare and deliver on all sales orders
  • Negotiate terms, pricing, and all aspects of fuel supply options with existing accounts and prepare sales agreements
  • Serve as backup resource, as needed, to support inbound customer service responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records in the CRM, including contact information, customer interactions, sales activities, and follow-up actions, ensuring consistent communication, relationship development, and proper documentation of account management efforts.
  • Maintain professional environments for all customers and team members

Position Requirements
  • Associates or bachelor's degree in energy, business, marketing, accounting/economics or another business-related field preferred
  • 2 years of sales and/or industry experience preferred
  • A commitment to excellent customer service
  • Proficient in computer technology including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with customers (internal & external)
  • Strong math and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work comfortably in a flexible and fast-paced environment
