Adel Elementary is seeking a highly motivated, quality applicant to work as 1:1 associate at Adel Elementary, a preschool through 1st grade building. The staff at Adel Elementary is incredibly caring and work in a collaborative manner. The hours for this position are 7:45 am-3:45pm Monday-Thursday. Friday 7:45am - 1:15pm
Job Summary:
The associate role is one to assist the teacher in supporting specific learning goals by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve appropriate skill levels.
Responsibilities:
  • Work with individual students or in small groups to help achieve skills and understanding of class material
  • Work with a wide range of various needs, including academic, behavior and social Examples:
    • Reads to students, listens to students read and participates in other forms of oral communication with the students
    • Guides each student toward making appropriate choices and accepting responsibility for their own behavior
  • Assisting the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities
  • Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information regarding an individual student
  • Supervises students outside during arrival, recess, dismissal and may provide lunchroom supervision
