Job description

Assists nurses with direct and indirect patient care activities. Prepares patients rooms for occupancy after discharge. Additional responsibilities includes blood draws and EKG's.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  1. Observes patient's mental, emotional and physical conditions and report any changes to the nursing staff.
  2. Performs non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions as directed by nursing staff.
  3. May perform special procedures as required and directed (i.e., blood draws/EKGs).
  4. Conducts regular patient rounds and meets with patient's family members when required.
  5. Collects test specimens and performs laboratory analysis as directed by nursing staff.
  6. Answers patient calls and determines how best to help them.
  7. Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant Certification Program or equivalent
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification

Preferred:
  • Minimum of six (6) months recent experience as a Nurse Assistant in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Completion of phlebotomy course or equivalent experience preferred.
