MERCHANDISE ASSISTANT

Purpose:
The Merchandise Assistant is part of the Merchandising Team working collaboratively with the Buyer to ensure a strategic approach to purchasing quality in-demand goods being sold in our various showrooms. The Merchandise Assistant is responsible for various tasks including assisting the Buyer in the selection of items and accurate record keeping for all items ordered.
General Description of duties:
This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
  • Process and follow-up on all pricing changes with accuracy
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor lists
  • Assist in creating a product assortment that meets different price points and customer needs
  • Generate reports related to department meetings as needed
  • Manage inventory transfers to ensure correct product placement and movement
  • Communicate product information and updates to the Marketing and ECommerce departments
  • Stay proactive with market and product trends to adjust the assortment as necessary
  • Gather necessary product information for purchase orders
  • Build strong relationships with store leaders to provide ongoing support for specific requests
  • Develop and distribute sales materials to stores
  • Execute company policies and procedures for vendor purchase orders
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Manage multiple, on-going, and high priority assignments at the same time
  • Works as part of a collaborative team and works independently to accomplish given responsibilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office and Excel
  • Ability to travel to different company showrooms
  • Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associates or Bachelor’s in related field preferred
  • Experience in a retail environment preferred
