Interventional Radiology Technologist

Job Description

This position is for an imaging professional and does not require an RN. An active x-ray license is mandatory, along with experience in either interventional radiology or cath lab settings.

Position Details
  • Quantity Needed: 1
  • Type of Resource Requested: Interventional Radiology Technologist or X-ray Technologist with Interventional Radiology Experience
  • Length of Contract: 13 weeks, with ongoing needs anticipated
  • On-call Requirements: Yes, up to 10 days per month when fully staffed; currently expected to be 2 days per week
  • Hours Per Shift: Open to 8 or 10-hour shifts
  • Shift Start Time: Varies between 7 AM and 9 AM based on the chosen schedule
Department Specific Details
  • No weekend requirements currently; Saturday or Sunday on-call may be added in the future.
  • Documenting with EPIC; installation of a new Siemens IR suite scheduled.
  • Active Illinois license from IEMA and board certification as an X-ray technologist through ARRT is required; interventional radiology certification is not necessary.
  • Candidates must have experience in interventional radiology or the cath lab; training available for candidates with cath lab experience.
  • Candidates may assist with general X-ray if no interventional radiology procedures are being performed.

Role Specific Responsibilities
  • Performs diagnostic radiographic exams.
  • Utilizes PACS and EMR systems.
  • Executes interventional procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintains appropriate IV and Contrast Competency.
  • Follows established procedures for patient positioning, exposure control, and radiation protection.
  • Performs necessary office duties.
  • Communicates effectively with all parties involved in patient care.
  • Cleans and inspects departmental equipment.
  • Cleans and stocks imaging rooms.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate degree required.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • ARRT Certification in Radiology
    • IEMA License
    • BLS Certification
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years technical experience required.
