Job description

The JB for Governor Campaign is seeking a Video Editor for the 2026 Campaign cycle to be responsible for transforming raw footage into compelling, polished video content that advances the campaign's message across digital platforms. As part of the creative team embedded within the digital team, this position will handle the majority of the campaign's day-to-day editing workload, producing high-quality content on tight deadlines. While this role is primarily office-based, occasional field production and camera operation may be required. 

Location:  Chicago, IL (This position will only travel as needed) 

Reports to: Senior Video Producer 

Salary range: $72,000 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the primary editor for the campaign's day-to-day video production needs. 

  • Transform existing footage into polished, platform-ready content for social media, digital advertising, fundraising, and rapid response. 

  • Edit short-form and long-form videos while maintaining the campaign's visual style, pacing, and messaging. 

  • Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines. 

  • Collaborate with the Senior Video Producer, Creative Director, and digital team to execute the campaign's creative vision. 

  • Organize, label, and maintain video assets and project files to ensure an efficient post-production workflow. 

  • Incorporate graphics, captions, music, color correction, sound mixing, and basic motion graphics into finished videos. 

  • Assist with video production and camera operation on an as-needed basis for campaign events or special projects. 
     

Skills required  

  • Strong editing, storytelling, and post-production skills with an eye for pacing and visual communication. 

  • Expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro and familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects and Photoshop. 

  • Ability to produce high-quality content quickly while managing multiple deadlines. 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in file management and post-production workflows. 

  • Experience editing social-first content optimized for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X. 

  • Familiarity with professional camera equipment and production workflows; experience operating cameras is preferred but not required. 

  • Prior experience in a fast-paced creative, political, advocacy, or news environment is a plus.
