Assistant Vice President of Institutional Research & Effectiveness

Founded in 1958, Quincy College is a two-year, municipally affiliated college serving approximately 4,000 students at campuses located in Quincy and Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Research & Effectiveness provides strategic leadership for the College's institutional research, institutional effectiveness, assessment, data analytics, accreditation support, and mandated reporting functions.

The Assistant Vice President serves as the College's chief institutional research officer and strategic advisor on institutional data, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and effective use of information to support planning, accreditation, enrollment management, student success, compliance, and institutional decision-making.

Working collaboratively with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, the Registrar, Financial Aid, and other College departments, the Assistant Vice President leads institutional reporting, executive analytics, strategic planning support, Program Review, assessment, institutional surveys, and continuous improvement initiatives while fostering a culture of evidence-informed decision-making across the College.

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in Institutional Research, Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, Statistics, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or a closely related field required. Doctoral degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research, institutional effectiveness, assessment, higher education data analytics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in higher education.
  • Experience preparing and coordinating federal and state reporting, including IPEDS.
  • Experience supporting regional accreditation and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Technical Knowledge

  • Experience with Jenzabar SIS or a comparable student information system.
  • Experience with data warehouse and business intelligence platforms such as ZogoTech, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Reporting Services, or similar tools.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data visualization software.
  • Experience with statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, R, or Python.
  • Experience with survey platforms such as Qualtrics or similar applications.

Data Management & Analytics

  • Demonstrated ability to collect, validate, analyze, interpret, and communicate complex institutional data.
  • Experience integrating data from multiple institutional systems.
  • Experience developing executive dashboards, key performance indicators, predictive analytics, and institutional reports.
  • Knowledge of data governance, reporting standards, and best practices for data quality.

Higher Education Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state reporting requirements, including IPEDS.
  • Knowledge of higher education accreditation standards and institutional effectiveness.
  • Experience supporting strategic planning, assessment, enrollment management, and student success initiatives.
  • Knowledge of higher education accountability and performance measurement.

Leadership & Professional Skills

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple priorities.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Institutional Research

  • Provide strategic leadership for the College's institutional research and data analytics functions.
  • Direct the preparation and submission of required federal, state, and accreditation reports, including IPEDS, Massachusetts Department of Higher Education reporting, Perkins, Early College (ECHS), NECHE, and NC-SARA.
  • Develop executive dashboards, institutional reports, key performance indicators, and data visualizations.
  • Provide institutional research and analytical support for executive leadership, strategic initiatives, and Board reporting.

Institutional Effectiveness

  • Lead institutional effectiveness initiatives that support continuous improvement and student success.
  • Coordinate institutional assessment and Program Review processes.
  • Support development, implementation, and evaluation of the College's Strategic Plan.
  • Provide data analysis to support accreditation, enrollment management, academic planning, and institutional priorities.

Data Governance

  • Lead institutional data governance initiatives that promote data quality, consistency, and integrity.
  • Develop institutional reporting standards, data definitions, and documentation.
  • Maintain official institutional census (freeze) files and historical reporting records.
  • Recommend improvements to institutional data processes and reporting practices.

Surveys & Assessment

  • Oversee institutional surveys, including graduate outcomes, student satisfaction, and other College-wide surveys.
  • Analyze survey results and communicate findings to support planning and institutional improvement.
  • Support assessment reporting and evaluation of institutional outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, the Registrar, Financial Aid, and other departments to support institutional priorities.
  • Present institutional research findings to senior leadership, governance committees, external agencies, and accreditation teams.
  • Represent the College on institutional committees and external professional organizations as appropriate.
  • Promote a culture of evidence-informed planning and continuous improvement throughout the College.
  • Lead cross-functional institutional reporting activities
  • Collaborate with Sr. leadership to advance institutional effectiveness and data-informed decision making.
