The Heavy Equipment Technical Inspector performs the full range of inspections/repairs when required on commercial vehicles, powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline, multi-fuel or diesel. Types include those of military, commercial, and industrial usage in a motor pool environment, such as trucks, and forklifts.  Also, may include multi-wheel drive vehicles with standard or automatic transmission and auxiliary equipment.

• Perform Field and Sustainment Level maintenance such as, but not limited to troubleshooting equipment, diagnosing systems malfunctions, identifying corrective actions on servicing or repairs on military and commercial equipment as prescribed in the equipment Technical Manuals (TM's), Commercial Equipment Manuals and all other applicable manuals.
• Perform initial, during and final inspections in accordance with the standards required under the Performance Requirement Statement (PRS) and Performance Work Statement (PWS) - Material Maintenance sections 5.1 – 5.6 and all other applicable publications.
• Prepare requisitions for procurement of materials and supplies to include, but not limited to Vendor Repair Parts, Vendor Contract Repairs, Bench Stock, Shop Stock, Petroleum Products (POL).
• Responsible for ensuring all deficiencies and parts are annotated properly on all forms as required by applicable policies and procedures.
• Utilize established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s). Consider a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical.
• Properly maintain appropriate paperwork necessary for the maintenance and repair of the equipment.
• Diagnose system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies. Dismantle and reassemble equipment, using Technical Manuals (TM’s) and/or Electronic Technical Manuals (ETM’s).
• Inspect complex, interrelated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical systems, equipment and their components while in operation or in a standby condition.
• Inspect equipment to determine repairs needed using specially designed testing methods and test equipment such as, but not limited to, computerized test sets, precision gauges, electronic sensors, injector test stands and engine scopes.
• Responsible to ensure that all components needed for repair are properly identified by using, but not limited to, Technical Manuals, Commercial Manuals, Old Part Number to New Part Number verification, Part to Vendor verification.
• Assist team members in solving maintenance problems by analysis and troubleshooting.
• Engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
• Assist other inspectors to perform inspections on equipment repairs.
• Assist in performing additional duties such as, but not limited to Key Control, HAZMAT Coordinator, Site Specific Spill Plan Coordinator, Fire Marshall, special project management, maintenance of facilities and equipment.
• Provide preventative maintenance for all equipment associated with the performance of maintenance where applicable.
• Maintain shop housekeeping and physical image of shop.
• Perform other duties as required to support the mission and contractual requirements.

• High School graduate or GED.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in the repair of tactical or commercial vehicles.
• Maintain a valid state-issued Driver’s license.
• Certified in the use of the Global Combat Sustainment System - Army (GCSS-A).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to become familiar with some but not limited to the following types of equipment, sub-systems, support equipment and related systems such as, cranes, pumps, compressors, and a wide assortment of wheel vehicles that are below or above the 7 1/2-ton weight limit including trailers that accompany the prime mover, when required.
• Ability to provide assistance in repairing equipment to standards using the appropriate, to Technical Manuals (TM), Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) Manuals and all other applicable manuals.
• Working knowledge of how to operate lifting devices, hand and pneumatic tools. Repair and replace components, engines, transmission, and sub-assemblies.
