 The Gund Company has an immediate opening for a full-time Utility Operator to join our team!  

Shift: First (7:00am - 3:30pm, M-F)

Hourly Wage: $22+ per hour based on experience

Bonus: $1,000 at 30 days of employment

Plant/Work Location: 10501-3 W. 133rd Avenue, Cedar Lake, IN 46303

Utility Operator Job Summary

As a Utility Operator, you will play a key role in supporting production operations, ensuring that parts are fabricated to meet work order specifications and customer requirements. This includes operating and setting up various production machinery, conducting manual assembly tasks, and adhering to safety and quality standards. 


Key Responsibilities Utility Operator

  • Operate production equipment such as panel saws and sanders.
  • Perform manual assembly and fabrication tasks using hand tools and machines, as necessary.
  • Inspect products to ensure they meet company quality, quantity, and customer standards.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and performing routine maintenance on production machinery as needed.

Requirements

  •   High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience. 
  • Strong basic math skills and the ability to use measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work overtime and adjust to emergency production needs.


Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints and technical drawings.


Work Environment Utility Operator

  • This role is performed in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to dust.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
  • The position may involve repetitive tasks and manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time.
