Job description

Position Summary

This project is focused on Urban and Community Forestry initiatives in Stamford, CT. Crew members and leaders will perform various tasks related to tree care and maintenance throughout park sites and natural areas within Stamford, CT. Projects may include invasive species management, tree planting, tree pruning and watering. Ultimately, our goal is to continue to improve Stamford's urban forest and canopy.

  • This position is primarily in an urban setting where emergency services, public transportation, and cell phone reception areavailable within 30 minutes . Interactions with members of the public are regular and frequent.

  • This position may conduct work in a front country setting where emergency services are accessible, but may be delayed by 1-2 hours. Access to public transportation at work site is limited or not possible.Cell phone reception is limited, spotty, or not available.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with tree planting, watering, mulching, staking, and establishment care.
  • Perform stewardship activities including invasive species removal, vegetation management, and restoration planting.
  • Follow safety procedures and properly use hand tools and equipment.

Marginal Duties

  • Work collaboratively with crew members, supervisors, municipal agencies, and community partners.
  • Assist with preparation, loading, unloading, cleaning, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, professional development workshops, and reflection activities.
  • Assist with volunteer events, community outreach activities, and special events as assigned.
